Yummy!

We had a family night activity to the Waffle Love truck. We've been wanting to try them for months and we finally made it work with our schedule. The boys absolutely loved it and ate every last bite. I thought it was delicious but unfortunately, after still recovering from the flu, I didn't have much of an appetite but got enough to know it was yummy! So glad the boys are usually up for trying new things. It makes life much more fun and adventurous.

End of Year Activities

I can hardly believe that another school year has come and gone and my cute little boys are headed into another fun summer. Lincoln is wrapping up third grade with a recorder concert and a 3rd grade invention project. He did such a great job with both.

Logan got to take graduation pictures and also participated in the annual kindergarten luau party. He was so excited and I was glad that I could share in some of that time with him. Just two and a half days left of school!

Splash Splash

We finally made a decision on a pool company, and a design, and they began digging last week. We have had workers here almost every day. I wanted to complain about the cost of the pool but after seeing all of the work that goes into the construction process, I am a little more understanding. I am trying to take pictures along the way so we can track the progress. We've already bought a few pool toys as we eagerly await the completion of the pool. We hope to be swimming just in time for the July 4th holiday. We'll see if we can stay on schedule!

Happy Mother's Day

Ricky asked me a million times if there was something that I wanted for Mother's Day. I really didn't have anything specific in mind other than I just wanted to sleep in and maybe even have a nap. The boys played in the playroom when they got up so they wouldn't wake me up. Unfortunately, Lincoln woke up sick so Ricky was already tending to him all morning. We didn't make it to church so the boys were sad they couldn't sing to me but we made the most of it. I got to snuggle in bed and watch a chick flick, Ricky made lunch and picked up Pei Wei for dinner. We also got a few things done around the house.  I played games with Logan and Ricky read with Lincoln.  It made for a pretty easy going peaceful Mother's Day. I am so blessed to have my boys in my life. I can't imagine my life without them.
This is what Logan made me at school.
This gave us some great laughs as we read through it. It's too precious to be offended.
This is a card that Logan made me but he added Lincoln's name to it since Lincoln wasn't feeling well enough to make me a card.

May Misc.

I feel like this time of year, along with the Christmas season, there are just a million things going on. All of the final school actives, projects, field trips, etc are happening in conjunction with everything else that life normally brings. Here is a quick snapshot of what has happened over the last two weeks.
Logan is continuing to learn and study dinosaurs in Kindergarten.
Logan was asked to give a talk in primary at church. He did a wonderful job and we so reverent and spoke clearly to deliver his message.
Teacher appreciation week was last week. The boys wrote their own cards to their teachers and then we gave them a gift card to a restaurant. I am grateful that they both had a wonderful connection with their teachers this year.

I stopped in to have lunch with the boys one day last week. It's always fun to see their smiling faces mid-day and see them interact with their friends.

 Lincoln, Jimmy and Owen
We rarely sit outside to each but the weather in the evenings has been so beautiful that we couldn't resist. This is at a local Mexican place close to home.
Lincoln has a 3rd grade project we've been working on. He had to create a product that he can sell to the sharks (3rd grade teachers) to persuade them to invest. It's based not the Shark Tank show. He developed The Triple Decker  Pencil Box.
Trying to get fresh air in the evenings and enjoy the beautiful evening skies. The boys seem to always be half dressed these days (they insist!) and were playing with bubbles when I took this picture.

Soccer Star

The Spring soccer season has come to a close. Logan scored the first goal of the last game and had two assists. He was focused and played hard. It may have been his best game of the season. He has made obvious improvements to his game from last season. He got a lot of play time, which was especially good because his teacher came to watch him. He was so excited to get his trophy but sad the season was over. He already told me he wants to play again. One thing that I noticed is that his involuntary movements don't seem to occur when he's playing. I didn't see them once until the game was over and we were walking to the car. I don't see it at his swimming class either so, it appears that sports are a great way to manage that for now.

Introducing Ellie Lynn Manchan

Asa and Theresa welcomed a baby girl on May 6th, weighing 7 pounds 7 oz and 8 inches. Mom and baby were both healthy and looked happy in the pictures. She arrived just in time for Mother's Day.  We are very happy for them and look forward to seeing her in person one day.

Bobcat Award

I really don't have any clue how the scouting program works but I am slowly but surely learning. Lincoln was awarded his Bobcat award at the last pack meeting. We are very proud of him. He was the sharpest looking, most well behaved scout at the event. I am glad it is something he enjoys and we will support his participation as long as it is something he wants to continue with.

Home Improvements

We've now lived in our new home for a year and three months and we finally made the plans for our backyard. What felt like an eternity, but was really about two months, of meeting with a landscaper and three pool companies, we chose our designs and signed papers. We will be putting in a pool, a raised deck, we already have the basketball court and we are adding artificial turf. We are SO excited. Here is a sneak peak of the pool colors. The travertine is noche, the noche/ivory rocks are the back wall of the pool, the blue is the tile around the pool and the far right little blue square is the aqua blue interior.

We also finally got our solar up and running. We signed for that last December, it was installed in January and we started producing power last week.  Exciting that we will be able to build a few credits before summer and before the pool goes in and the AC goes to full blast.
I have been wanted to redo Lincoln's room for months. We never really finished it from when we moved in. The theme and decorations that he previously picked didn't quite pan out. This time we are going NFL all the way....his choice! We started by painting an accent wall in his room. Next goes all the fun decorations.

Chick Magnets

Last week Lincoln found a baby bird on our driveway. It seemed to appear out of nowhere and was chirping non-stop. It was a complete mystery as to where it came from given that we couldn't see a nest anywhere. A short time later, Ricky found another one in the street in front of our house. The boys where so thrilled they both had a baby chick to play with and look after. We had no idea what to do with them or how to take care of them. They were VERY tiny. We hung out with them on the front lawn for about an hour but it started to get dark. We convinced the boys that their momma was coming to find them and we needed to leave them alone so she wouldn't be afraid to come find them. They were NOT happy with that answer. Logan was especially distraught. The next morning he woke up and ran out front hoping his chick friends would still be there. Ricky told him that their mom came to get them and then Lincoln interjected with, "or a predator did."  Too smart. We all hoped that wasn't the case and that their mom came to save them. In them mean time, we found out that they were quail and they next in bush on the ground, which would explain us not being able to find a next.

This happened to be the art work that Logan brought home from school the very day we found the birds.
