Big Bear Lake Camping Trip

Over the weekend we went camping by Big Bear Lake.  This was Lincoln's first camping trip. (If you don't count last year's trip when I was five months pregnant with him.)  All week last week, we kept telling him that we were going camping and that we would see the trees, the lake, sleep in a tent, etc.  Having never been camping before I am sure he didn't quite comprehend what camping really was.  When Rick first took him out of the truck, at the camp site, I couldn't believe how big Lincoln's eyes got when he saw all of the trees and the new environment.  He started screaming (his happy scream) and waving his hands in the air.  He was having a blast!   Being in the mountains, the sky was beautiful, clear and we could see tons of stars.  It was the first time that Lincoln really recognized them.  We sang twinkle, twinkle little star when we were trying to teach him about the stars.  He just laughed - he was pretty intrigued by them though. For the rest of the trip, every time that we would say where are the stars, he would throw his head back and look to the sky.  We took a couple walks, went to the zoo, roasted marshmallows and tried to stay warm.  Other than the freezing cold temperature, we had a great time!

Good for you guys. It is always scary to go on a trip with a little one, but it usually ends up being worth it. He is so cute. I wish he could play with Erica more.
