Long Lost Friend

Over the Christmas break I received an email out of the blue that caught me by surprise.  It was a comment posted on my blog.  I didn't recognize the email address but the note read,  "Eden???? It's me Courtney from way back in the day!!! Do you remember? I can't believe I found you!!! You seem to be doing well, beautiful family you have :)"

OMG!!!  As soon as I read the comment though I knew exactly who it was.  It was my BFF in Lompoc from fifth through 9th grade, Courtney Lubin!!  I was so excited to hear from her.  She found me through blogging!  I knew blogs served multiple purposes.  Immediately old memories of all of our years together came flooding back. Over the years I've often wondered what happened to her and what she's doing now. (I especially thought about her when Michael Jackson died because she LOVED him and she did the best impersonation of him.) I think in a lot of ways, those middle school and high school years are very important years in experiencing life and shaping us for the future.  I spent all of those years with her.  We were neighbors, rode the bus to/from school together, hung out at school, etc.

Since then we've been able to exchange emails and it's been so fun for me to catch up.  Of course, life happens and so much has obviously changed from the last time I saw her...which would've been about 13 years ago.  She's gotten married, had an adorable little boy and has moved to another state. I hope one day we will be able to see each other again but for now we will have to rely on emails, blogs and phones.  What a fun treat that's been for me.

I hope she isn't mad I'm posting this. Isn't it funny that all these years later I still have these pictures in my middle school album.
