We spent an evening decorating the little green machine and stocking up on candy for the boys to throw. Unfortunately, the night before the parade Logan came down with a fever and was sick. He was so sad at the thought that he may not be able to be in the parade. It ended up being a really hot day and we didn't think that it was a good idea for him to drive the 1.5 mile parade route. Logan insisted that he would be well enough to be in it. He had been looking forward to it for the whole week prior. We gave him some Tylenol put on his hat and let him go. Rick and I walked along side of them in case there was a problem. I asked Logan at one point if he was doing ok and he said, "yes, I'm not even going to barf!" Good news is that he didn't and we made it! They had such a fun time and it will always be a special memory for them.
We spent the rest of the day eating delicious food, playing with cousins and watching movies. Later that night we lit fireworks on the driveway at home. All in all it was a successful day and still my favorite holiday after Christmas.
This baby by was resting on Mommy's lap in the cool air conditioned car before the parade started.
Lincoln was shocked by how old this car was. He was sure it was from at least the 1990's. We got a good laugh. It's from 1917.
The back of the green machine - loaded with candy and Cornelius Teethers to give away.
Looking super cute in their red, while and blue.
Cousin Mallory ran along side us and helped pass out candy.
At the town festival Lincoln got to sick in the National Guard's tank.
They were absolutely beat and exhausted from being in the heat. Luckily no sunburns and we enjoyed a nice fresh lemonade when it was done.
Daddy hates lighting fireworks so we did some low key sparklers and little ground displays.
Logan waving his flag was so excited to see the fireworks.
So grateful for my boys and this blessed country that we live in!
