We were determined on this trip to see Montana. Ricky specifically wanted to see Billings but for some reason in previous trips he was close to the border of Montana but never actually made it there. We had planned it so that originally we were supposed to stay in Montana on our way to South Dakota but with Lincoln getting sick, the plans changed. Again, another benefit to being spontaneous and not locking in hotels, we still got to go back home through Montana.
This trip we planned it so that we would actually spend a couple nights in Montana. We only got to see the southern half of the state but what we saw was beautiful. The day driving was quite long but the boys were troopers. We did happen to come upon the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument so we stopped and checked that out. It was very interesting for all of us to learn about since we weren't familiar with the timing or what really took place. Lincoln loves to learn about the Civil War and since this happened near that time, it was especially of interest to him.
We finished our long day by checking into our hotel, Comfort Inn, in Bozeman, MT. We had some dinner at Applebee's and did a quick refill on snacks and misc. items at the Walmart that was right behind our hotel. It was a good day.
