Christmas Artwork

Now that the boys are in school, one of my favorite things about this time of year is all of the fun and creative art work that they bring home.  We were inundated with cute reindeer, Santa's, pictures and most of it was personalized.  Both boys are very artistic which I'm grateful for. I hope they always continue to have an interest in the arts.  Here are a few samples of their work.

Here's what Logan made:

 Gingerbread man
 A dreidel
A stocking with a kitty coming out.

 Santa made by his handprint.
 Reindeerhands and stocking.
 Logan's glittery hand prints.
I thought the poem on the picture was cute and has a ring of truth to it.

Logan at the makeshift school fireplace.  He made us a card with this picture on it.
Not all of Lincoln's art was Christmas related but we still hung it up around the house.

Date Night With Lincoln

I love going on date night with my boys...any of them.  Last night I got to take Lincoln on a special date night just because.  We went to the movies to see Wreck it Ralph.  He loves to get the kids snack pack with popcorn, fruit snacks and a drink.  He really liked the movie. I thought it was cute too.  There were several funny parts that the adults were laughing at more than the kids. We left the theater and went to the grocery store to pick up a few things.  We were going to go get dinner but he ultimately decided on heading home to have mac and cheese instead.  It was a fun night and it was such a joy to get to spend some special one on one time with him.

Winter Activities

It poured rain here a couple of days ago we thought it would be fun to go out and play in the rain for a bit.  I thought I would go out with them but the reality was it was FREEZING cold so I stayed in and took pictures of them outside. They only lasted a short while before they decided to was too cold to really have fun in the rain.  Then they came in and cuddled up.
Our activity yesterday was to go look at Christmas lights while listening to Christmas music.  We drove around for about 45 minutes and I was really surprised at how well the boys did. They actually paid attention and looked at the lights.  They're into Rudolph and Frosty the Snowman this year so they pointed out every Rudolph and snowman that they could find.  Overall we had a good time and it was a great way to bring the excitement of the season for the boys.
This one thought he could brave the cold but quickly returned to the house to get his rain gear on.

Flip flops were his idea - not mine.
He decided he wanted to do a photo shoot with his new winter jacket on.

School Christmas Program

Friday was the boys Christmas program at school.  They've been practicing their songs for weeks and we were excited to see them perform with their classes.  Since it rained here they had it inside but it still turned out to be really cute.  Lincoln's class started out the program by leading everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance and singing "My Country 'Tis of Thee."

Logan's class sang "Up On The House Top" and Logan stood near the front center and sang his little heart out.  He did all of the motion and was absolutely as adorable as he could be. He noticed us watching him pretty early on but didn't try to leave the stage and showed no signs of stage fright.  He was so proud of himself and was the last one to leave the stage.
Lincoln's class sang "All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth" and they used a cute little prop that was a mouth missing it's two front teeth.  They then sang "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" and then left the stage. We returned to the classrooms with the boys to share in milk and cookies with each of them.

We were so proud of them!  Rick and I were smiling ear to ear watching them sing and enjoy the experience.  They were sweet as could be. It was a great moment for us as parents and a great way to get into the holiday spirit.
 Walking in with his class.
I pledge allegiance, to the flag...
I'm cute and I know it.
 Up on the house top....
 Ho, Ho, Ho...
Now everyone can take my picture.
Performing was hard work.  Now he's ready for milk and cookies.
All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth...
 Merry Christmas with jazz hands.
I think he was listening to his teacher say something but either way I thought this was a sweet picture.

Christmas Activities

The last couple of days we've done a few more fun Christmas activities.  One day we hung the Christmas window stickers and yesterday we watched the Polar Express and had Christmas Ice Cream (which was vanilla with red, white and green sprinkles on it). I didn't realize how much Lincoln liked the Polar Express story and I was surprised that Logan made it about 3/4 of the way through the movie before he wanted to go play.  That's the longest he's ever watched a movie.  It was a dark rainy day yesterday so it was the perfect night for pizza and a movie.

We purposely put the sticker on this door so that Santa will know which door to come into since we don't have a chimney.  He can park the sleigh on our driveway.

Happy 45th Anniversary to Tutu's

Tutu celebrated their 45th anniversary yesterday and the boys texted them this little picture.
Congratulations!

Midnight Waking Hours

Logan has made a habit over the last week or so of coming into our room at 4:30 in the morning.  He wants to go downstairs or lay in our bed and have milk.  Yesterday he was up from about 2:30 - 5:00 am.  Rick let him come into our bed at 4:30 and gave him some milk.  Logan carried a toy school bus into our room when he got in our bed. I put it on my night stand so that he wouldn't lay on it.  About an hour later, as I'm trying to sleep, I had apparently moved my arm over and it hit the school bus causing it to move move and make a noise.  I suddenly heard a little voice, "don't play with my school bus mom." Really?  I was trying to sleep. I promise I have no interest in playing with your school bus at 4:30 in the morning!  I couldn't help but laugh....and then take a picture.
Notice he was happy as a lark and wide awake.  I on the other hand was half asleep and that's why I didn't include our heads.

Cookies and Cocoa

The last couple of days were filled with yummy Christmas activities.  On Tuesday we colored some Christmas pages, made hot chocolate and ate Christmas marshmallows.  Yesterday we made sugar cookies and decorated them with Christmas colored sprinkles.  Both boys were excited to help make the cookies but they were more excited to eat them.  They did a great job because they were delicious!
Lincoln took his coloring very seriously and his beautiful art is hanging on the refrigerator.
This may be Logan's first time having hot chocolate.
Daddy joined us for a drink!
 Lincoln loves sprinkles and frosting.
Logan was more concerned with eating the cookies than decorating them but then we he saw what a great job Lincoln did, he decided to add a few sprinkles.
