Lincoln's Surgery

Lincoln's surgery was yesterday morning and everything went well. He did such a good job on the table. We ended up not putting him under with anesthesia.  He was given some numbing cream and an oral medication that caused him to be loopy and have amnesia.  I think it sounds a lot more serious than it was. After taking the medicine, Lincoln told the nurse, Ricky and me a story about an astronaut that had fallen off of a bridge that connects two moons together in outer space.  When the astronaut fell he landed on a gummy world.  The astronaut tried desperately to return to his friends on the bridge by pushing different colored buttons, like the red vacuum button, that would help him unstick himself and blast off back to the bridge.  This story went on for about 25 minutes.  It was as if Lincoln was dreaming out loud. It was pretty fascinating and boy does that little guy have a great imagination.  He sure kept us entertained.
The doctor was in and out of the room in about 10 minutes. Then it was done.  Ricky read Lincoln a book while the doctor tried to show me what he was doing.  I tried my best to watch but I was more focused on not getting weak in the knees and throwing up. I don't do well with watching surgeries. The surgery was a success.
After a little recovery time in the office we took Lincoln to Toys R Us to pick a special toy for doing so well.  He picked a couple new Thomas train cars. We followed that up with a special lunch at Red Robin. Lincoln had to fast before surgery so he hadn't eaten anything all day and was ready for a yummy smoothie. After a delicious lunch it was time to head home to see Grandma Tutu and Logan.  He was so excited to see what fun surprises she had for him.  Of course, she didn't disappoint.
His recovery has gone much smoother and has been easier than I thought.  Despite our attempts to keep him calm and resting he wants to run around and play outside. I guess that's a good sign.  We are so grateful that everything went well and that he seems to be recovering so quickly!
There was a little hesitation as he waited for the numbing cream to kick in.
Daddy had a little pep talk with him.
Within minutes we had a giggly happy silly little boy.

I'm glad he did so great! Poor little guy has been through so much in such a short few years. He's definitely a trooper! I love his imagination too. Good job remembering all the funny details!
