Temple Open House

I had the opportunity to take my friend Bam Bam and her mom to the Gilbert Temple Open House earlier this month.  We made a fun full day of it - starting with breakfast at a bakery that's new to me. It was delish! We even took a box of goodies home for the boys later that evening.

Given that Bam and her mom are not members of the church and have only ever seen the Mesa temple previously, it was a special day for me to experience it with them.  They were both amazed by the size and stately appearance of the temple.  We had to wait over an hour to get in but it was worth it. Because they are both artists (painters) it was especially nice for them to see all of the grand artwork inside the temple. I wish we could've strolled through at a slower pace but since there were thousands of people waiting outside, they had to keep the group moving. Overall it is as beautiful as any of the other temples but what made it extra special was the blessing of taking my sweet friend through.

Since we were already on the other side of the valley we made a quick visit to Ikea for lunch and shopping.  It ended up being quite a long day but it was all worth it and we had a great time and made great memories!
