London - Westminster Abby

My favorite thing about Westminster Abby was trying to figure out exactly where Kate and William were inside when they got married. I did find a very sweet usher to tell me all about the wedding day. Who stood where, where they walked and even where Prince William and Harry waited while they waited for Kate to arrive. It was exciting to see! Ricky on the other hand was not impressed with any of that and just enjoyed the Abby for what it was...and it was a lot. It was huge and was a place of worship, a site for the coronations and funerals of England's Kings and Queens, a resting place for many of the Royal dead and a huge tourist attraction among other things. It took us a couple of hours to get through the tour of the entire place. We saw the tombs or remembrance plaques of The Unknown Solider, Queens Elizabeth I and Mary I,  King Edward the Confessor, Lewis Carroll, T.S. Eliot, William Shakespeare, George Frideric Handel, Isaac Newton and Charles Darwin.

It was really neat to see all of the WWII plaques and statues around different important buildings. There is clearly a genuine respect and appreciation for what the USA did to save England in WWII.
