Utah Trip - Part 2

After spending a couple of days with extended family, it was time for our little family to get away and  create some fun memories together. We headed to the small town of Heber, UT to stay at the Homestead Resort. It was a couple of days to be together, be adventurous and also relax. We had extra time to kill before we could check in so on our way to the resort we found a memorial and went to check it out. Our timing was perfect since it was Memorial Day Weekend that we happened to be there. It had absolutely beautiful 360 degree views looking over the valley. There were flags that represented each branch of the military. There were a couple of specific memorials that we talked through with the boys and we read some names and talked about the time in history that they fought and died. It was a very peaceful and somber place and I'm so glad that we stumbled upon it. I feel so blessed that we live in this country. Yes, it isn't perfect. There is crime and corruption but we are a blessed nation and there is still more good than bad. I want the boys to grow up with a love for their country and patriotism in their hearts.

Our room was in the barn on the property, which the boys thought was pretty cool. We had reservations that afternoon to swim in the swimming hole inside the crater on the property. It was something I had been looking forward to doing. It was such a unique experience and we weren't sure what to expect when we got there. The water was very warm and since we were all required to wear life jackets, it made it easy to float and relax. That was the highlight, and the coolest thing we did on the trip in my opinion.

That night we went to dinner at the resort across the street. Unfortunately it wasn't very good but since there were no chain restaurants, it were all about trying new places.

I had to put my camera away before I jumped in to join them but this was the best family picture I could get before I did that.
This was the picture that Logan made for us at dinner. Such a talented artist and thoughtful kiddo.
This is what the top of the crater looks like. They have nets and wire covering it in case something falls down because the swimmers are directly below.
On the property of the Homestead. Brothers are best friends!
