New Year's Eve in Kauai - Poipu

We started off the morning with a delicious outdoor breakfast buffet at the Marriott Resort. Following breakfast we went to the first hour of church at the local ward house in Kapaa. After a short rest back at our hotel room (since I was still sick and was already wiped out) we headed to Poipu for the evening festivities. We started our NYE celebration with a trip to the blow hole. Apparently it wasn't roaring as much as it normally does but it still gave us beautiful views and a fun experience. We were then treated to an amazing dinner at Merriman's Fish House. We were seated outside in an open air covered patio in the corner so we had incredible views of the sunset. I don't like fish but they had a set menu where you could pick from a few items for each course of the meal. The food was devine. I tried a few things that I wouldn't normally have tried and it ended up being wonderful. Aunt Natalee brought some fun new year's accessories that the boy enjoyed playing with. Both Lincoln and Logan were well behaved and tried new foods.

After dinner we walked for about a half mile to a mile down the road to a beach where we sat on a retainer wall along the beach and watched the fireworks show. I love fireworks but the boys didn't seem to be overly interested in them for more than a few minutes. It was still a great place to be to ring in the new year!

 The blow hole.

The sun hiding behind the clouds at the blow hole made for some amazing views.

Logan bought himself a little ukulele as his souvenir.

We played a game where we passed this paper around and each person had to add one thing to the drawing. We got some good laughs over it.
This was my appetizer salad that I thought would be disgusting and it turned out to be my favorite course of the meal. Fried goat cheese, strawberries, greens, and a berry sauce.
We got to watch the sunset from our table as we were eating. Being there NYE and seeing that view was perfect!

After multiple attempts at a selfie for this picture, Ricky was able to get a good one of all of us after dinner.
