December 29th in Kauai - Wailua River Grotto

Aunt Natalee and Uncle Toby arrived and joined us for the remainder of our stay in Hawaii. We did some activities with them and we went our separate ways for a few things. The boys always love having Uncle Toby around because he gives them lots of attention and energy.

Even though Grandma Tutu and I were both still quite sick, we had a big day planned and wanted to be a part of it. We started the morning with breakfast on the beach at the neighboring resort. We had never been to the Fern Grotto, and apparently it's a pretty famous place, so we scheduled a nice boat ride to take us up the Wailua River to the Grotto. It would have been fun to kayak up there but with being sick that just wasn't going to happen. On the boat was a family of native Hawaiian singers and dancers that entertained us on the ride to the Grotto. We walked a short trail through green slushy forests to the fern grotto. After a while we walked the trail back to the boat and returned to shore.

That evening we got to eat at a place called Keoki's Paradise that Tutu's really like. We were outside on their patio and the evening weather and ambiance was beautiful. We were exhausted and still taking medicine constantly throughout the day but it was worth it to spend a day like that in paradise with my family.

While waiting for our table the boy and Nat and Toby played corn hole.

Logan loved chasing the chickens around the dock. Papa Tutu told the boys he would give them $10 if they caught one. They weren't able to quite make it happen.
All of us on the doc before we embarked on our river adventure.

They had us all get up at one point and learn the Hookie Lau.
